Residential · The Hague
A three-storey family townhouse in The Hague, with original mouldings and big street-facing windows, to be made calm and practical for a family with young children without losing the character of the house.
The ground floor was opened up from front to back: built-in shelving frames the view from the living room through to the dining room and a breakfast bar set under the original arch.
Upstairs, steel-framed glass brings daylight from the bedroom into the bathroom, and each child's room was given its own colour, light and storage.
Ochre velvet, black steel and herringbone oak: one calm palette from the living room to the bedrooms.
Herringbone oak floors, soft grey walls and black steel throughout, warmed with ochre velvet, walnut and teak. In the bathrooms, grey brick tiles and hexagonal mosaic floors meet patterned wallpapers, from a quiet geometric print to a bold fish design in the guest toilet.
